Mac & Field is an environmental consultancy supporting governments, NGOs, businesses and project developers throughout the Caribbean. We combine ecological and social-science expertise to address environmental challenges in ways that are scientifically sound, locally relevant and practical to implement. Our work ranges from ecological assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments to independent reviews, environmental management plans, ecosystem restoration and project implementation. Since our establishment in 2016, we have worked on marine and terrestrial projects across the Caribbean for local organisations, island governments, international NGOs, research institutions and private-sector clients.

Mac & Field was founded by Tim van Wagensveld and Stacey Mac Donald, who met while working on separate environmental projects on St. Eustatius in the Dutch Caribbean. Through their work, they recognised that environmental projects often approached ecological and social questions separately, even though successful environmental management depends on both. Scientific evidence alone does not automatically result in effective action: solutions must also take account of local knowledge, community interests, policy, governance and the practical realities of implementation.
 

This shared perspective led them to establish Mac & Field in 2016. By bringing together expertise in ecology, environmental psychology and anthropology, Mac & Field connects science, policy and practice. We work collaboratively with clients and stakeholders to develop solutions that benefit both ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.
